25th november: International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Some facts to think about:
- 35% of women and girls globally experience some form of physical and or sexual violence in their lifetime with up to seven in ten women facing this abuse in some countries.
-  Worldwide, more than 700 million women alive today were married as children, 250 million of whom were married before the age of 15. Girls who marry before the age of 18 are less likely to complete their education and more likely to experience domestic violence and complications in childbirth.
-  The costs and consequence of violence against women last for generations.
You can see some posters designed by our students.

New English Assistant in the School

Have you seen Sarah in the school?  She is our new englisg assistan this year, and she will be with us until the 31st May.  If you want to learn more about her, please, read this information.

My name is Sarah Fletcher. I’m 20 years old and I’m from Hanwell in west London, England. I study Spanish at the University of Leeds, and have just finished my second year there. After my year here in Fuengirola, I will return to university to finish my degree.
At home, I live with my parents and my two older brothers in London. We have lived in our current house for the last 18 years. During my second year in Leeds, I lived with 8 friends near the university.
I love spending time with my friends and listening to music – I always have music playing! I enjoy playing tennis, although I am not very good at it, and I love to cook and make cakes.

Peace day

On the 30th January, Las Salinas school celebrated the Peace Day.  In order to conmemorate this special date, we did a demonstration for the peace in our neighbourhood showing different banners with pictures and slogans made by the students.  Then, our pupils created some symbols and words for the peace with their bodies on the football court and finally Antonio, our principal, realesed a dove.  The presence of Fuengirola's TV and the Youth Councillor Juan Lazo, contibuted to give public relevance to the event.  We want to say thank you to Carmen, who has worked really hard to achieve that all the school community enjoyed this day.
